Women's Ac to sing at Powderpuff game

The Women's Ac will sing the National Anthem at the Powder puff game on Thursday, Sept. 25th.  Please be at the stadium at 6:15 pm.

Little Caesars

Little Caesars will be delivered to the choir room on Sept. 22nd and must be picked up by 4:30.

VMEA Honors Choir 2014

VMEA Honors Choir 2014
Seniors have the option to audition for the Virginia Music Educators Honor’s Choir that will rehearse and perform in Norfolk, VA  on November 20th-22nd .  
Audition: “If Music Be the Food of Love ” by Henry Purcell
Temp is quarter note=120

Sight reading- 20% of total score/ 8 measure
See example given to you in packet.

1.   Open to all Seniors.
2.   Where?  Longwood College in Farmville, VA on Saturday, October 11th, 2013.
3.   Time?  To be announced
4.   Need to turn in $15.25 audition fee to Mrs. R by Friday,  September 5th.
5.   Parents are to provide student transportation to Longwood College.
6.   Parents must sign the attached note in order to register their students.  The note must have the parent signature, principal signature, and choral director signature.  You MUST have the note with you when you register your student. 
7.   Students must wear Business/Dressy Attire.  The judges will see the performers, they will not be hidden.
8.   The students may warm-up downstairs in the music building in the practice rooms prior to their audition.  Please ask the registration table for directions.  
Note: This letter must be turned in with $15.25 for the students to audition.  The letter will be returned to you and a copy will be kept in the choir office.  Please take the letter with you to your VME Audition. You must have this letter to audition.

AUDITION PROCEDURE:
1. Students may only audition once, and only on the part registered for on the school registration form and online form.
2. Students will perform audition selection with a live accompanist. Accompanists will start the piece at the stated metronome marking, and then follow the student’s tempo
when they begin singing.
3. Students should be advised to dress appropriately in business/interview attire. Screens are not

 4. Sight-Reading – The sight-reading selection may be sung before or after the prepared piece. When the student enters the room they must tell the judges which they wish to do first. The exercise will be 8 measures in length and sung unaccompanied. The exercise will be computer
manuscript, with the women’s selection written in treble clef, bass selection written in bass clef, and tenor written in both clefs for the student’s choice. There will be no interval larger than a fifth. The range will be from ti to la. The exercise will begin on do. Students may sing using solfege, numbers, or neutral syllables. The sight-reading must be performed at a tempo no slower than quarter note = 60. Slower tempos will result in a deduction in score.
PLEASE NOTE: Sight-reading counts for 20% of the total score, therefore, the auditionee should be a skilled sight-reader to even audition for Honors Choir.
