🎵9/24 Choir Announcements

 🎵September 24th, 2023- Choir Announcements 

VMEA Auditions:

The audition will take place virtually. Students are reminded to dress nicely for this audition as it will be videotaped. Please find a neutral background and quiet area. You will sing “I Attempt from Love’s Sickness” by Purcell and sight read. Please complete the “Test” Audition first. You will only be given a few chances to record. Please read all instructions before recording. These auditions need to be completed between Sept. 28th and October 3rd. An audition link has been sent to you through Opus Events. Please see Mrs. R with any questions. Students are reminded to bring in their $13 for this audition. 

*September 26th- After School Rehearsal for Troubadour Tenors till 3:30pm

This after school rehearsal is only forTroubadour Tenors. Students must be picked up at 3:30pm. 

* All District Choir Auditions October 18th at Louisa County High School *The absolute last day for this is Monday, September 25th*

All District Choir Tryouts will be held live for the first time in 5 years. We will be going to Louisa County High School on October 18th during the school day. The audition consists of the song “Blow, Blow, Thou Winter Wind” and sightreading. The cost to audition is $15. Students are to either audition or complete the alternative assignment found on canvas by October 20th. The letter and permission slip are linked in this email. I will need chaperones on this trip. Please email me if you are willing to help. Details are on the letter. Please email Mrs. R with any questions. 

*Senior Showcase Sept. 28th: 

The senior showcase has been moved to Sept. 28th at 6pm in the EVHS Auditorium. 

Seniors need to sign up online by the end of this week if you want to participate. There will be a mandatory after school rehearsal on Tuesday, September 19th. Seniors will need to arrive at EVHS at 5pm on Sept. 28th. All Choir/Musical Theatre Students are required to attend this event and will sing a final number at the end of the show, please arrive by 5:45pm. Choir students need to wear school appropriate clothing for the event. We could use a few volunteers for this event. Please sign up here. Our Login Code for charms is EVHSChoir. 


*October 10th, 2023- Mandatory After School Rehearsal for Troubadours and Men’s Ac til 4pm 

There will be a mandatory after school rehearsal for Men’s A cappella and Troubadours on Tuesday, October 10th till 4pm in the auditorium. Students who cannot attend this after school rehearsal are reminded to fill out the Reason for Absence Form as soon as possible. Rides are asked to be at EVHS promptly at 4pm. 

*A cappella Concert October 11:

The Annual EV A cappella Concert will be held on Wednesday, October 11th, 2023, featuring Floyd T. Binns Middle School and James Madison University's Madison Project! This concert will have an entrance fee because of the visiting group. Tickets will be a suggested $5 donation at the door. 


Students who are performing will need to arrive at 5pm to warm-up. The outfit for this concert for performing students will be the choir t-shirt from either this year or last year or a black school appropriate t-shirt with blue jeans and shoes.  Men’s Ac will wear a button down black shirt, jeans, and a pink bowtie. Show Choir/Musical Theater, Women’s A cappella  and Intro Students will be given a ticket to get into the concert free. They must have their tickets to enter. Intro students may pick up their tickets starting the week of October 9th. Students will also need to sign in either in the lobby for non performers or in the forum for performers.

*Intro to Choir students, please stop by the choir room to get your ticket starting Monday, October 9.  


We will need parent volunteers! Parent volunteers will be able to enter the concert free.

We need help in the following areas: 

*Pre concert supervision (please be here at 5pm) - Each choir will be assigned a room to warm-up and practice. Parents are needed just to help supervise. This job is actually a lot of fun to do! 


*Concert supervision (Be here at 6pm)- I need parents to sit in the EVHS Choir designated choir student areas to make sure everyone is behaving appropriately. 


*Tickets (Be here at 5pm) - Help sell tickets 


*Ticket takers (Be here at 5pm) - in the auditorium, Do not open the auditorium doors until 5:30pm


*Student Ticket taker (Be here at 5pm)- take student tickets when door opens


*50/50 raffle(Be here at 5:15pm)  - supervise student helpers and help with profit for 50/50 raffle tickets


*Concession(Be here at 5pm, opens at 5:30pm)- Help run the concession stand


*Clean-up- Help bring everything to the choir room at the end of the show


*Hospitality Parent- We will open up a hospitality room for Madison Project. Please help set up, organize, and answer questions for our guests.

  • Water for performers 

  • Snacks for performers -fruit snacks, chips, etc. 

  • Hospitality Room items - fruit plate, snacks, water 

  • Baked goods for concessions

  • Sodas for bake sale 


VMFA and Frozen Field Trip October 12th: 

The EVHS Fine Arts are going to the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts and to see Frozen at the Altria Theatre in Richmond on October 12. The cost is $65 and the first 50 participants to turn in forms and payment will reserve their spot to go. More information and the permission slip can be found here.

*October 18th- All District Choir Tryouts at Louisa County High School

EV Fine Arts Spirit Gear for SALE:

The EVHS Fine Arts Department is selling spirit gear! Please log onto the following  link to purchase t-shirts, sweatshirts, and more! Items need to be purchased by October 15th and will be delivered the first week of November. All proceeds will go to the EVHS Musical Fund! Thank you as always for supporting the EVHS Fine Arts! 


The EVHS Choral Booster Snack Cart:

The EVHS Snack Cart is coming back! We are asking parents for donations of packaged candy bars, chips, snacks, and individual drinks to sell on our cart. (Please no peanut products.) Students, please fill out the following form to let us know what you want to see on the snack cart. 


Tri-M Invitations, Applications due October 29th, Induction Ceremony is on Nov. 14: 

The Tri-M® Music Honor Society is a program of the National Association for Music Education (NAfME), which focuses on creating future leaders in music education and music advocacy. Here are some other facts about Tri-M.. 

  • Tri-M is the only music honor society for junior/middle school and high school students in the country.

  • Tri-M recognizes students that have gone above and beyond both academically and musically.

  • Tri-M also provides students leadership opportunities to make a difference in their community through music-based service projects.

  • There are more than 2,100 chapters across 50 states and 15 countries.

  • Tri-M involves more than 84,000 students in grades 6-12.

  • Each year, student members contribute more than 750,000 service hours to their school and local communities and raise nearly $1 million for causes they care about.

Requirements for T-M membership include: 

  • Membership in an EVHS music course. Must have completed one year in high school. 

  • Maintain a 3.5 or higher GPA in your current music class(es).

  • Maintain a 3.0 or higher weighted GPA overall.

  • $15 annual member fee.

  • Display strength in service, leadership, and cooperation.

  • Commit 20 hours of volunteer service hours per year for the chapter.

Applications have been sent out to members of the EVHS who qualify for this honor. If you are interested in applying to join this organization, please fill out and submit the application form, $15 fee and one reference (to be completed by an adult outside of the EVHS music community) by Friday, Oct. 27. The induction ceremony for all who quality will be Tuesday, Nov. 14. Please see Mrs. R and Mr. Roach with any questions.


*White House Ornaments and PTO Holiday Fair:

It is time to purchase your annual 2023 Official White House Ornament. We still have a few 2021 and 2022 White House Ornaments left. They are $25 each. Credit will be given to student’s accounts for each item sold. We will set up a table at the EVHS PTO Holiday Craft Fair on November 11th.  We need parent volunteers to help sell the ornaments. *December 11th  Men's AC to perform at  the school board meeting:

Please save the date. Men's A cappella will be perfoming at the CCPS School Board meeting. This will take place at 302 N. Main Street (parking is in the back). Students need to arrive at 5:30pm.

*Choir students- Please turn in your choir contracts. They are now past due and must be filled out completely. You will not be able to participate in any choir field trips until these are turned in. Copies of the Choir contracts can be found on Google Classroom and Canvas.

Charms- Every student will be given a charms account. Charms may be accessed at www.charmsoffice.com. Our school code is EVHSChoir which is case sensitive. The direct link to charms is https://www.charmsoffice.com/charms/parents.asp?username=EVHSChoir. Students are able to see their choir financial accounts, sign forms, see uniform numbers, volunteer, purchase certain items and more. 

This is how you log in to charms.... 

  • Log on to www.charmsoffice.com, and click “ENTER / LOG IN” in the upper right corner.

  • Locate the “PARENT/STUDENT/MEMBERS LOGIN” section of the web page.

  • Login to your student’s program account using the following School Code:

  • This will bring up the main “Public” page.  This will allow you to look at the “public” calendar for your organization, event list, and handouts and other “publicly shared” files, as well as a few other options.

  • Whenever you enter using this Username/password, another more detailed screen appears, with various button options for you to access areas in the Charms account.  What appears here is partially up to the Account Administrator or Head Director.

  • Two areas in which you can help the director/administrator maintain his/her records:

    • Update Personal Information – if the director has allowed it, you  may help make changes to your and your child’s student information page (such as updating phone numbers / cell carriers and email addresses if they change) to help them communicate with you more effectively. You may also be able to indicate which parent volunteer/resource groups you would like to participate in, if this feature is activated. Click Update Info to save changes. 

    • If your program has set up online credit card payments, you can make credit card payments for items in the online store.

  • The Calendar may list events, rehearsals, and volunteer/RSVP opportunities. Click on calendar, find the date of the event, click on the hand and sign up to donate items or volunteer. 

  • Most importantly, the parent page assists both you and the teacher to communicate with each other.  Stay up to date on what’s going on with your student!
