Choir Auditions

 Current Choir members will audition during class time except Show Choir members will have to come to the Wed. Feb. 1st audition.

Please announce  Jan. 25th– Feb. 8th



The Eastern View Choral Department will be holding auditions for the 2012-2013 School Year. The dates are as follows:

Show Choir tryouts will take place on Tuesday, Jan. 31 from 3:30 to 4:30pm and Wednesday, Feb. 1st in the EVHS choral room from 3:30 to 4:30pm.  Students must attend both days for this tryout.  Applications, music, and CD packets will be placed on the choir room door starting on Thursday, Jan. 26th.



The tryouts for Artistic, Advanced, Women’s A cappella, and Men’s A cappella will take place at EVHS on Tuesday, Feb, 7th and Wednesday, Feb. 8th after school from 3:15 to 4:00pm.  Interested students need to come by the choir room to sign up for a 3 minute audition slot and to pick up an audition application. The signup sheet and audition applications will be found on the Choir door.

Little Caesar's Pizza Pick up Monday, Jan. 30th...

Little Caesar pizza will be here on Monday, Jan. 30th.  All orders must be picked up by Monday at 4pm.

Show Choir Competitions!!

Show Choir Competition in Amherst, VA and Powhatan High School in Powhatan, VA

Where: Amherst County High School/ Powhatan High School

Date: Powhatan- Feb. 24th, Amherst- March 24th

Time: TBA (We do not have this yet.)

For: Show Choir to perform in a competition.

Cost: $8 for Powhatan and $12 for Amherst- for Registration

Chaperones: We need at least 2, please let me know if you can chaperone.

Bland Contest

The Lion's Club is supporting their annual bland contest on Feb. 19th at 2 pm at Culpeper Baptist Church.  Students may enter the contest by singing a vocal selection and win scholarship money.  For more details and entry form, please see MRs. R in the choral office.

Santa Hats and missing music

We have several Santa Hats and music missing from the holiday season.  Students have been informed of who is missing what item.  Students who do not return their music will be charged a $2 fee for each piece and for the Santa Hat, $3 will be charged.

Little Caesar Pizza

The Choir is currently selling Little Caesar pizza.  Students will receive $4 per item in their account for every item they sell (possibly more depending on how much the choir sells).  All orders and payment is due by Wednesday, Jan. 18th. Orders will need to be picked up on Monday, Jan. 30th. (Just in time for the superbowl parties!!)

All State Choir

Students who have made All District Choir and are juniors or seniors may try out for All State.  Students must audition in the same part that they auditioned in November.  The song is the same , "Blow, Blow, thou winter wind."

Bermuda Trip Payment And Itinerary

Dates: Friday, June 8th through Thursday, June 14th

Leave: out of Baltimore, MD- will request school buses.

Friday-Baltimore MD- leave port

Sat- Cruising

Sun- Kings Warf, Bermuda- arrive at 3pm /Shopping around Kings Warf in the afternoon

Monday- Day at the Beach- plan an excursion of snorkeling here (price is not included below.  Price will come.)

We will be going to Horseshoe Bay as a group

Tuesday- morning- explore St. Georges (?)

Ship will leave around 12pm.

Wednesday- sailing

Thursday -7am- We will doc in Baltimore, MD but we will probably not leave the boat until 9 to 9:30am.



Cost: Student (in quad room) $1034.00, Chaperone (in double rooms) $1174.00

This price includes:

-Adjudication Fees for a Choir Festival

-Full Time Music Festivals Staff Director dedicated to our group

-Quad Room accommodations/ Parent is 2 to a room (Parents who are willing to stay 4 to a room may attend the trip at a discounted price.)

-6 nights aboard the Royal Caribbean Cruise Line’s Explorer of the Seas leaving out of Baltimore, MD

-3 gourmet meals per day/ or eating available all day

-Video/ Arcade, card room, library, swimming pool, fitness center, rock climbing wall, in line skating, walking track

-all port charges and gratuities (except for the $1 per person fee with the porter)

-award ceremonies

-clinic/workshop for choir on the ship

-performance time on the ship

-t-shirt for each student

-$50 for a sea pass account on board for students and parents

-comprehensive travel insurance that will take care of medical, baggage, evacuation, and trip cancellation or interruption coverage

***Students who wish to stay two to a room or three to a room will have an increase in price. 



This price does not include:

$1 tip for the porter at port

$spending money

Money for room upgrade to a triple or double

Money to see the medical staff on board if needed

Bus ticket in Bermuda (Not very expensive but will get price as we get closer to the trip.)

 All passengers must be covered by Health Insurance.  

Passport- You are responsible for your passport.  You can obtain your passport from the local post office. Please see Mrs. R with any questions.

Medical- If medical care is needed on the cruise, there is a $40-$50 fee upfront to see the doctor.  This money will be reimbursed through the purchased travel insurance.

 Students will need to have spending money on this trip for shopping and possible excursions.  Excursion information will come as the date of the cruise approaches.

                -$100 deposit due Friday, Jan. 13th (checks made out to EVHS Choral Boosters,

                If you have fundraised this then you do not need to pay the deposit. That is five candy boxes.)



                ***There may be more forms forthcoming as we get closer to the trip date.

  Due Dates-

***At least 20 people need to sign up in order for this trip to take place.  The $100 deposit will be held until 20 people have signed up.  If 20 people do not sign up, the trip will be canceled and the $100 will be returned to you, however if the trip does take place the $100 deposit for the trip will be non- refundable. 

Parent and Student – Friday, Jan. 13th- Parent Agreement, Student Agreement, CCPS Permission Form, and deposit payment of $100. (There are a few students who have this money in their account.)

7.      in case of incident, any time your child does not follow the school rules or dress code, he/she will be sent home at the parent’s expense

8.      if a chaperone, to pay all fees for my trip

9.      to know that in case of an incident that threatens national security, the school board may cancel the trip and depending on the time frame,  55 or more days ahead of time of departure, a partial refund, not full, will be given

Choir Pictures Wednesday and Thursday

The Show Choir will have pictures tomorrow during class. Please have all necessary outfit attire with you at school.

Women's Ac and Beg/Adv.  Choir will have pictures on Thursday during Class.  Wom. Ac are reminded to bring t-shirt and formal attire.

Students were given forms to purchase individual photos and group photos.  Group photos are just $10. All Photos must be prepaid.

Permission Slips and $35 are due by Jan. 13th.   Music and MP3’s will be ordered.



**Students are expected to practice on their own, please ask Mrs. R for any help that is needed. 

Dress: Friday, Casual

Saturday, Formal (all day, you may wear comfortable shoes for rehearsal and then change shoes before the concert.  There will be no changing rooms before the concert.)

Women- Black ankle length skirt or formal black pants and a white formal top, black shoes and neutral or black hose

Men- Black formal pants and a collared buttoned down formal white top, black shoes, black socks

Black Folder, Water





Time for Departure and pickup both days are TBA.  The Concert time is TBA.Please have your ride ready to pick you up at the appropriate time. 



For Snow, we will move All districts to the weekend of the 17th and 18th. 





Lunch- You will need to pack a lunch on Friday and Saturday.



Students are reminded that they are to remain on campus for the duration of the All District Event. 



Students who fail to dress properly will not be able to perform in the concert and forfeit chances for All State Choir.
