Our First EVHS Choral Booster will take place on Tuesday, August 27th at 6pm in the Choir Room.  All Choral parents are invited to this meeting.

American Choral Directors Association Information

American Choral Director’s Association Southern Division Honor Choirs 2014

 

All students in grades ninth- twelfth are eligible to audition for ACDA Southern Division Honor Choirs that will be held on March 5^th- March 8^th in Jacksonsville, FL.  This is an amazing opportunity for students to learn a variety of music under a top rated conductor while meeting other students across the southern united states that share a love of choral music. All fees, travel, and chaperoning are the responsibility of the parent/guardian. The EVHS and CCHS choirs have had many students participate in this wonderful opportunity!!

 

9^th grade- Junior High School Choir

10-12^th- Senior High School Choir

 

Cost to Audition: $30 (Checks made out to EVHS Choral Boosters)

Students will need to learn a specified piece which will be taught in class and a few vocal exercises to show range. Students will record their auditions with Mrs. R during class or after school, or with their voice instructors.  All recordings and money must be completed and turned in by Thursday, Oct. 3^rd.  Students will be notified of their audition results by December 1^st, 2013. 

Students who are selected and choose to participate will need to pay a registration fee of $195 and book a hotel room (you will be notified which hotel to book your room) immediately.  Students may use funds that they have fundraised in their choir account to pay for this trip.

Seniors have the option to audition for the Virginia Music Educators Honor’s Choir that will rehearse and perform in Hot Springs, VA  on November 21st-23rd .  

Audition: “I Attempt From Love’s Sickness” by Henry Purcell

Temp is quarter note=120

 

Sight reading- 20% of total score/ 8 measure

See example given to you in packet.

 

1.   Open to all Seniors.

2.   Where?  Longwood College in Farmville, VA on Saturday, October 5th, 2013.

3.   Time?  To be announced

4.   Need to turn in $15 audition fee to Mrs. R by Thursday,  September 5th.

5.   Parents are to provide student transportation to Longwood College.

6.   Parents must sign the attached note in order to register their students.  The note must have the parent signature, principal signature, and choral director signature.  You MUST have the note with you when you register your student. 

7.   Students must wear Business/Dressy Attire.  The judges will see the performers, they will not be hidden.

Note: This letter must be turned in with $15 for the students to audition.  The letter will be returned to you and a copy will be kept in the choir office.  Please take the letter with you to your VME Audition.
