 🎵October 29th  Choir Announcements 

Welcome to the week of Halloween! However, the Choir room is sounding a bit like the holidays right now! We are  about to go into one of the busiest seasons. There are many events and we need all the parent support we can get. Please keep encouraging your singer to practice and sign up below if you can help. Thank you as always for your continuous support of the EVHS Fine Arts!!  

EVHS Events Team needs help for the FTBMS show

The EVHS Events Team is looking for volunteers to help with the FTBMS Show. This is a great way to earn volunteer hours. Please sign up here if you are interested. 

One Act Play Festival at CCHS Nov. 1st at 6pm

Please come out and support many of our choir students as they take the stage for EV’s annual One Act Play Competition! Good Luck to EV Drama! Admission is free! 

*Mandatory Cat. 5 rehearsal 10/31 till 4pm 

There will be a Cat 5 rehearsal on Tuesday, October 31st till 4pm. This practice is mandatory for all members. VHSL Theatre is excused from this rehearsal. 

*Thursday, Nov 2nd Tenor/Bass  rehearsal till 3:30pm

There will be a Tenor rehearsal on Thursday, Nov. 2nd till 3:30pm 

*Summer Residential Governor's School Auditions for 10th and 11th graders

The audition for this will be on Nov. 1st. You will need one art song ("Blow Blow Thou Winter Wind" will work) and complete sight reading (same as All State level).  You must fill out the application and have it to Mrs. Glick by Friday, October 27th. If you are the nominee from EV, please see the slide show to see the expectations of the audition that will be held on Friday, January 5th or Saturday, January 6th at Blair Woods High School in Ashburn, VA. There is a $25 fee for students who are "no shows" to this audition. The application and informative slide show can be found on Google Classroom and Canvas. Please let Mrs. R know if you have any questions.

*World’s Finest Chocolate: 

Choir students will have the opportunity to take part in the World’s Finest Chocolate Fundraiser. Parents must sign a permission form. Students will then sign out boxes and be responsible for selling all 60 bars in the box. Profit from the box will be placed in their charms accounts which may be used towards choir fees and field trips. Please email Mrs. R with any questions. 

Veterans Day November 10th for Cat 5 choir:

Students are reminded to turn in their Veterans Day Permission slip ASAP


 Performance for Veterans at a reception held by CCPS at the Culpeper CTECH Center. 


Students are reminded to make sure they bring in their formal dress attire for Friday, Nov. 10th. 

Students need to pack a lunch or bring money for Chick Fil A.  Please bring a water bottle.

Performance will be between 12:00pm and 1:00pm 

 While there are no plans to stop on the way to or from our destination, the car could stop if an emergency or student need occurs.

*White House Ornaments and PTO Holiday Fair:

It is time to purchase your annual 2023 Official White House Ornament. We still have a few 2021 and 2022 White House Ornaments left. They are $25 each. Credit will be given to student’s accounts for each item sold. We will set up a table at the EVHS PTO Holiday Craft Fair on November 11th.  We need parent volunteers to help sell the ornaments. *Tri-M Invitations, Applications Dress Rehearsal, Nov. 13 and  Induction Ceremony is on Nov. 14: 

Tri-M inductees will receive a confirmation email this week. There will be a dress rehearsal after school Nov. 13 till 3:30pm and the induction ceremony will take place on November 14th at 6pm. All current members and new inductees are asked to attend. Parents are encouraged to attend the Tri-M induction ceremony. 

*December 7th- The Executive Mansion for Cat 5 : 

The Category 5 choir has been invited to sing at the Virginia State Capitol and Executive Mansion in Richmond, VA. We will leave around 2:00pm and return around 10pm to EVHS. A letter and permission slip will be sent home with students and will be  posted on Google Classroom. Students need to bring water, music, money or a packed dinner for the trip down and snacks/water for the trip back.  Students are to wear their formal attire with winter modifications (stated in letter) for this trip. Please contact Mrs. R with any questions.

 *December 11th  Men's AC to perform at  the School Board Meeting:

Please save the date. Men's A cappella will be performing at the CCPS School Board meeting. This will take place at 302 N. Main Street (parking is in the back). Students need to arrive at 5:30pm. 


*Dec.12th, 2023- Mandatory After School Rehearsal for Troubadours and Men’s Ac til 4pm 

There will be a mandatory after school rehearsal for Men’s A cappella and Troubadours on Tuesday, October 10th till 4pm in the auditorium. Students who cannot attend this after school rehearsal are reminded to fill out the Reason for Absence Form as soon as possible. Rides are asked to be at EVHS promptly at 4pm. 


*December 14th- Winter Concert at 6pm 

The EVHS Winter Concert will take place on Thursday, December 14th at 6pm. Students need to be in formal concert attire (black choir dresses for women, black suits with white button down shirts for men with provided holiday bow ties). Students need to be at school at 5pm. This concert is mandatory for all choir students to attend. Students who cannot attend for any reason need to fill out the Reason for Absence Form  and will have to make up the concert in class. Parents, a Booster meeting will be held in the auditorium prior to the concert. We encourage all parents and choir supporters  to attend. The concert is free. We will need parents to volunteer for this concert. Please sign up here if you are willing to help run concessions, 50/50, supervise, or donate water and baked goods. Our school code is EVHSChoir.

*December 15th- Kings Dominion Winterfest Field Trip 

The EVHS Choir has the opportunity to sing at Winterfest on Friday, December 15th. 

Please read the following information letter. Here is the permission form. Please do not hesitate to send me any questions. This trip is for both students in 1st and 2nd semester choir. We still have spaces open!  Please contact me if you would like to chaperone. 


*Holiday Elementary Concerts Information: 

Second and Third Block Choirs will be performing for the Elementary Schools during 1st and 2nd block. The schedule is as follows.

12/18- AG Richtardson

12/19- Farmington

12/20- Pearl Sample

These concerts are required and are a grade. Students who need to test or are missing class work will not be able to attend and will need to make up the grade. Permission slips will be sent home soon.

I will need parent volunteers for these field trips to help chaperone and donate water. Chaperones need to be on the CCPS Approval list. Please sign up if you are able to help.

Holiday In School Concert: 

The 2nd and 3rd block choirs will be performing a Holiday in school concert on Thursday , December 21st at 8am. Students are expected to wear school appropriate holiday attire and jeans for this concert. This is required and a grade. Students who are not there must complete the Reason for Absence form and make up the grade either in class or virtually.  I could use a parent volunteer for supervision help at this concert. *Choir students- Please turn in your choir contracts. They are now past due and must be filled out completely. You will not be able to participate in any choir field trips until these are turned in. Copies of the Choir contracts can be found on Google Classroom and Canvas.

EVHS Choral Booster Membership- Parents may sign up to volunteer with our Amazing EVHS Choral Boosters. You do not have to pay a fee to join choral boosters. This is a change from our first executive meeting in November 2021 and change to the bylaws. The following special memberships will stay in place.

Charms- Every student will be given a charms account. Charms may be accessed at www.charmsoffice.com. Our school code is EVHSChoir which is case sensitive. Students are able to see their choir financial accounts, sign forms, see uniform numbers, volunteer, purchase certain items and more. 

This is how you log in to charms.... 

  • Log on to www.charmsoffice.com, and click “ENTER / LOG IN” in the upper right corner.

  • Locate the “PARENT/STUDENT/MEMBERS LOGIN” section of the web page.

  • Login to your student’s program account using the following School Code:

  • This will bring up the main “Public” page.  This will allow you to look at the “public” calendar for your organization, event list, and handouts and other “publicly shared” files, as well as a few other options.

  • Whenever you enter using this Username/password, another more detailed screen appears, with various button options for you to access areas in the Charms account.  What appears here is partially up to the Account Administrator or Head Director.

  • Two areas in which you can help the director/administrator maintain his/her records:

    • Update Personal Information – if the director has allowed it, you  may help make changes to your and your child’s student information page (such as updating phone numbers / cell carriers and email addresses if they change) to help them communicate with you more effectively. You may also be able to indicate which parent volunteer/resource groups you would like to participate in, if this feature is activated. Click Update Info to save changes. 

    • If your program has set up online credit card payments, you can make credit card payments for items in the online store.

  • The Calendar may list events, rehearsals, and volunteer/RSVP opportunities. Click on calendar, find the date of the event, click on the hand and sign up to donate items or volunteer. 

  • Most importantly, the parent page assists both you and the teacher to communicate with each other.  Stay up to date on what’s going on with your student!

  • You can also download the Charms App to your smartphone – search your App Store for “Charms Parent/Student Portal” (or “Charms Blue”).  It’s the way to stay in touch on the go!  

  • If you or your student is unable to access charms or forgets their password, please send Mrs. R an email and a new link will be sent to you.

Congratulations to everyone who tried out for All District Choir! EV had 25 students selected to be delegates and three alternates. We will have the most students represented in the choir in February! I am so pleased with everyone’s audition and sightreading scores! Way to go Cyclones!!

*Category 5 tryout rehearsal tomorrow 

There will be a tryout rehearsal for all students who want to try out for the Category 5 choir on Monday, October 23rd till 3:30pm. 

*October 26th- After School Rehearsal for Troubadour/ Men’s Ac Basses and Tenors till 3:30pm

Students must be picked up at 3:30pm. **Future Rehearsals will be on Thursday, Nov. 2nd, Tenors only on Tuesday, Nov. 28th, Basses only on November 30th, and both Tenor and Bass on Tuesday, December 8th. These dates are subject to change. 

*Category 5 Choir Auditions taking place October 24th till 4pm: 

This year the EVHS Choir will hold auditions for a select ensemble to be formed to attend special performances. This is a voluntary choir that requires the utmost respect, commitment, teamwork, and adherence to the choir family. Students who are currently in all EVHS Choirs are allowed to try out for this choir. Students who choose to apply for this choir will have to attend the live audition that will take place in the choir room on Tuesday, October 24th from 2:30pm to 4pm.  Please click here for more information.

The Tri-M® Music Honor Society is a program of the National Association for Music Education (NAfME), which focuses on creating future leaders in music education and music advocacy. Here are some other facts about Tri-M.. 

  • Tri-M is the only music honor society for junior/middle school and high school students in the country.

  • Tri-M recognizes students that have gone above and beyond both academically and musically.

  • Tri-M also provides students leadership opportunities to make a difference in their community through music-based service projects.

  • There are more than 2,100 chapters across 50 states and 15 countries.

  • Tri-M involves more than 84,000 students in grades 6-12.

  • Each year, student members contribute more than 750,000 service hours to their school and local communities and raise nearly $1 million for causes they care about.


Requirements for T-M membership include: 

  • Membership in an EVHS music course. Must have completed one year in high school. 

  • Maintain a 3.5 or higher GPA in your current music class(es).

  • Maintain a 3.0 or higher weighted GPA overall.

  • $15 annual member fee.- this must be turned in before the induction ceremony

  • Display strength in service, leadership, and cooperation.

  • Commit 20 hours of volunteer service hours per year for the chapter.

Applications have been sent out to members of the EVHS who qualify for this honor. If you are interested in applying to join this organization, please fill out and submit the application form, $15 fee and one reference (to be completed by an adult outside of the EVHS music community) by Friday, Oct. 27. The induction ceremony for all who quality will be Tuesday, Nov. 14. Please see Mrs. R and Mr. Roach with any questions.
