Rules and Procedures for Powhatan and Manchester

Rules and procedures for Powhatan and Manchester  …..

1.       On the bus you are to use appropriate language and follow all CCPS rules. Music is not to be played loudly and we will follow the requests of our bus driver.

2.       You are to clean your area on the bus when we arrive and when we get off the bus.  Leave the bus cleaner than you found it.

3.       You have been given an assignment; you must be responsible for that Particular item.  These items can be found in the front of the choir room.  Please take them to the bus and off the bus when we get home.  You are responsible for the item being taken to Powhatan and Manchester, taken back on the bus from Powhatan/Manchester and the item must be placed  in the choral classroom when we return.  A grade will be given for completion of this assignment.

4.       You have been assigned a chaperone and a bus.  Please proceed to your assigned bus.  No argument, I am the teacher and I have assigned your seating.  You must check in with your chaperone each time we get on and off the bus.  You will RESPECT your chaperone and all adults present.

5.       When we stop to eat, you will clean up all trash and respect the establishment.  Rules must be followed.

6.       When we arrive at Powhatan/Manchester, please listen to directions as to where Items will go.  All props go in one area.  Dress bags and racks are to go in our designated classroom area.  Please follow directions of the following chaperones….  Props- Mrs. Celesky- go to band room, Costumes, racks, first aid, and everything else- Mrs. Nicholson, Mr. Fincham- go to the designated classroom

7.       Follow directions from the choral director, when changing, boys and girls must separate.  Boys can use the restroom and girls will use the classroom provided.  We are guests in this classroom and we are not to touch anything in it except what they tell us we can touch.  We must pick up trash and not leave stuff lying around.  HANG UP YOUR SUITS AND DRESSES.  PUT YOUR CHANGE OF CLOTHES ON THE RIGHT RACK, this will be rolled down to the auditorium by Mrs. Fincham and Mrs.Nicholson. Everyone is on clean-up duty all day.   You must pick up all outfits , make-up, and trash.  We will not leave until the room is clean. Mrs. Celesky will do one more check after we leave.  DO NOT LEAVE CURLING IRONS, or IRONS on.  We do not need to burn down any schools.

8.       When we go to perform we will walk in formal walk style.  No talking. We will warm up in the choir room.  When we get on stage Will Dwyer will roll out our measuring guide and we will quickly find our positions for all four songs while the band and Mrs. Jarvis are tuning.  Prop people and crew people will quickly set up the props.  We have a very short time so no talking and yelling on stage will be heard by the judges.  Do not do it. Remember to smile and give your all.  If you mess up smile and keep going!!

9.       When we are finished wait on the side of the stage till the curtain closes and then line up for formal walk.  All prop people and crew will break down set and carry back to the band room.

10.    Walk with pride in the hallway and quietly back to the auditorium to our seats.  Go to our designated seats. Gentlemen, let the ladies go down the aisle first then proceed after them.  Sit down after the ladies sit.  The judges are watching your every move.  Stay in costume until the next two groups performs.

11.    Following our show, our props  and dress racks can be loaded on the bus.  If you are assigned to these items, meet Mrs. R and Mrs. Celesky, Mr. Fincham in the prop room.  We will go to the bus and load the props so we do not have to do it later.  All other students will stay in the auditorium with the other chaperones.

12.   After the next group performs  all students may go back to the classroom with the chaperones to change.  You may NOT be in the classroom at any time without an adult.  If you are found in the classroom without a chaperone, you will be written up.  No questions asked.  This is a rule.  Do not go even for a jacket or water.

13.    For the rest of the evening, you may watch the rest of the performances.  You may get food to eat but it must be eaten in the cafeteria.  If you leave the auditorium, you must tell your chaperone where you are going.  Chaperones, please see outside duty time below.  YOU MAY NOT GO TO THE CLASSROOM without a chaperone.  You are only allowed in the auditorium, cafeteria, and bathroom.   You may not go outside without an adult.  You are not allowed anywhere else in the school.

14.    For the awards, the captains need to be dressed.  Walk on stage with pride no matter the outcome. Everyone must be in the auditorium/gym (powhatan) for this time.

15.    After the awards, we will get together to take a picture and then we will go to the classroom and make sure that all is cleaned up and pristine.  Mrs. Nicholson and Mrs. Miller will take you to the bus while Mrs. R and Mrs. Celesky check the room one more time.  You will get on the right bus and wait for attendance.  We are going directly home. Make sure you use the bathroom, there are no places to stop on the way home and it will be a miserable ride if you have to go.  When we are in Orange County or Fredericksburg, chaperones, please tell your students to text your parents that we are 30 minutes away.  Mrs. R does not want to wait in the parking lot for 30 minutes that late.  Please tell them to be at school to pick you up.

16.    When we arrive back at EVHS, make sure that you pick up all trash.  I will open the building for the props, racks, and dress bags to be placed in the classroom.  Once your job is complete, you may go.  Do not throw your dress bag on the floor, hang it up!! Grades will be given for this too!!!

17.    Have a good weekend!!

If we place, we will stay, if we do not place, we will leave after the 1st award assembly. (This is only for certain competitions)
